ABOUT JACK

Career started in England as a carpenter (but like Jesus moved onto bigger and better things) advanced into specialising in mainly wet trades of multi finished set plaster along side sand and cement render, this also lead to treating rising damp with tanking and chemical injections throughout old cottages in the Cotswold and Gloucestershire area. Broadening the horizon in personal and professional career by coming to Australia in 2013, further developing the skill set of solid plastering, working for years along side Portugese acrylic Renderer’s on modern apartment blocks and swimming pools.

Became certified in Venetian plastering in 2015 through training at the Golden Trowel in London. Applying Venetian plasters and micro cement throughout Sydney’s eastern suburbs and north shore full time since 2018.

Licensed/certified/accredited to apply specialist plasters such as: Ideal work, Ad lucem, BeriCalce, Pisca, Meoded, Rockcote, Claywise, Dulux Acratex.

Since 2016 heavily delving into talks/podcasts by Ekhart tolle, Ram Das, mooji and many more, the business ethic has been operated under the ethos of… Try to focus and enjoy every moment and do the absolute best in every single step of the work scope, to make the most of the energy given for any day.

Great pride is taken in each working moment, great pride is felt when looking back at projects completed and connections made. Microcement is perfect for both commercial & residential use. Because of its varied usability aspects, Microcement can seem to offer infinite decorative solutions. For indoor & outdoor stairways or for cladding furniture & features, Microcement is of par excellence for floors & walls of kitchens, bathrooms & hallways; and for terraces, swimming pools and walled gardens. People often opt for Microcement as the best option over tiles, because of its attractiveness, wide range of applications, customization aspects, favourable costings, choice of finishes
and endless other benefits, some are detailed below….

Although both microcement and tiles are durable and can resist a lot of wear & tear, tiles can falter from cracking under intense pressure or weight; they are also more vulnerable to wear and tear and do not last as long as Microcement.

Since Microcement is a waterproof material with no joints, and renders as a smooth surface; by contrast, tiles have multiple joints (weak spots), are rougher in surface. With time, water tends to permeate the grouting which damages undersurfaces. Therefore microcement beats tiles in durability and longevity.

Pricing varies considerably when it comes to tiles (depending on design, quality, and structure). Microcement costs do not vary much, meaning the cost of application can become one of the most significant differences between tiles & Microcement, the latter being much cheaper and affordable in most cases.

The installation of microcement is easier than tiles. Tiles require extreme care and expertise during the installation process; minute measuring & cutting create a higher risk for error (one tile out of whack can ruin the esthetics of an entire floor or a wall). Tiles are generally more labour intensive, therefore carry higher installation costs than Microcement.

Over time, tiles tend to get fainter in color due to excessive cleaning and grouting becomes discolored and stained. Whereas Microcement remains easy to maintain and clean. Tiles have the disadvantage of attracting dust and other particles which stick between the joints, which eventually accumulate and become impossible to clean properly. Alternatively, one can use practically any type of mild cleaner to mop down microcement floors, plus a bit of hard-floor vacuuming, sweeping & dusting. Microcement is easier to maintain than tiles, with lower maintenance costs.

Both finishes offer beauty and elegance, but Microcement offers more attractiveness and customization which can be wholly based on the property owner’s preferences such as color, finish and final look. It’s that Bespoke look!

Microcement provides flooring with reduced thickness, which tends to oscillate between 2mm and 3 mm, making it very light. On the other hand, tiles are heavy and occupy more space and have a bulky look.

Architects, interior designers, builders, property managers, and homeowners can achieve the exact aesthetic they seek; not always possible with tiles. The strong polymer bonding power in Microcement mixes, allows application to almost any existing surfaces so one can transform an old tiled bathroom into a brand new upgrade, without a massive renovation.
